Have you heard of Svedana Treatment before? Sveda is the Sanskrit word for sweat/ sudation. Ayurveda offers quite a few different types of svedana treatments. Today we have Alice in the Vata room giving Patra Pinda Sveda, while Karin is in the Pitta room giving Nadi Sveda for her basti client.
We have currently a few clients undergoing their yearly Panchakarma treatments. Svedana is one of the preparation treatments prior body purification such as Virechana (gastro intestinal cleansing).
Other types of svedana treatment that we offer here at Lakshmi Ayurveda include: Bashpa Sveda (one of our favourites, and most popular!), Ruksha Pinda Sveda and Jambeera Pinda Sveda.
As mentioned by Sushruta ~ sudation stimulates digestive power, provides softness and lustre in the skin, relish in food and purity of channels; removes sleep and drowsiness and restores movement in stiff joint.
Ayurveda considers Svedana, sweating therapy, to be an important part of cleansing procedures. However, excessive sweating can cause imbalance. It is important to make sure you practice sweating therapy to the unique capacity of your body. Check with your Ayurvedic Practitioner to determine what is best for you
