Grapes are called Draksha in Sanskrit and Angur in Hindi.

The Ayurvedic text mentioned two varieties of draksha, harita (green) and krishna (black).

The dried fruit of draksha are known as raisins. Charaka has categorised draksha as snehopaga (oleating), virechanopaga (adjunct to purgation), Kasahara (anti cough) and jvarahara (fever reducing).

The Ayurvedic properties are sweet, sour, cold, unctuous and alleviates Vata and Pitta.

Their actions are laxative, aphrodisiac, diuretic, and anabolic.
