Shirobasti, like shirodhara, is another head oil application. Shirobasti is the process of allowing medicated oils to soak on the head for a prescribed period of time. A bandage is tied around the patients head and a cap with an open ended top (like a chef’s hat) is secured. The medicated oil, warmed to body temperature, is poured into the cap and allowed to soak into the scalp. This is highly recommended in facial paralysis, insomnia, dry mouth or nose, cataracts and other head disease. It prevents and stops hair loss, balding and premature greying. This therapy strengthens the hair roots and encourages soft and glossy hair.
Duration depends on the individual constitution;
Vata 50 minutes
