Benefits and Uses of Pomegranate
Pomegranates are called Dadima in Sanskrit or Anar in Hindi. It is said that Lord Ganesha loves Pomegranates

This fruit is highly recommended to balance excess heat during the summer months. We suggest diluting pomegranate juice with water to receive its full effects. But make sure to drink the juice between meals, not with meals! That way your body will be able to fully absorb the many benefits.

There are numerous benefits of this fruit

    1. Treating Acidity: Being alkaloid it is a great anti-acid and worthwhile trying if you suffer from Acidity. Try 50 ml of the pure juice, 1 to 2 x daily on an empty stomach. It is also soothing for an inflamed stomach

    1. Helps treat diarrhoea and increases the digestive function

    1. Helps to improve haemoglobin levels and is used to treat anaemia. The vitamin C content helps improve iron absorption

    1. Preparing pomegranate juice with jaggery can help to alleviate excessive thirst

    1. The oil of pomegranate seeds is nourishing for the skin and hair.

    1. Helps to strengthen the heart. The anti-oxidants may help to reduce cancer, high blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol levels and nourish the nervous system.

    1. The fruit also kills parasites - it is specific for tapeworms, pinworms and roundworms. Best to follow this with a colon cleanse to flush out the parasites.

    1. The juice can be applied on skin rashes, allergic rashes, and insect bites ?You can also mix it with aloe Vera gel at a 1:1 ratio.

    1. It is antiemetic and useful to relieve vomiting sensation and nausea (chardinigraha)

    1. Pomegranates are also well-known aphrodisiacs. They benefit the semen (Shukrala) via the plasma, called rasa dhatu in Ayurveda.

The Ayurvedic properties of Dadima include:

    • Rasa (taste): sweet, astringent and sour.

    • Vipaka (post-digestive taste): sweet.

    • Virya (potency): semi-hot in potency and it has an effect to balance all three doshas.
