Valuka Sveda

Have you heard of Valuka Sveda before? A massage with sand bundles

This is a type of Ruksha (drying) pinda Sveda it can be done over the whole body or locally on a specific body part.

Valuka is a Sanskrit word for sand and svedana is a sudation therapy. 

It is a treatment which relieves pain, stiffness and swelling associated with arthritis.

It is suitable treatment for Vata, Kapha, Ama and Medas.

It helps to remove stagnancy it clear the srotas (channel). This will help to remove water retention in the tissue and swelling in the joints.

Indications for Valuka Sveda

  1. Amavata - rheumatoid arthritis
  2. Urustambha - stiffness in the thigh
  3. Medo roga - obesity
  4. Granthi - cystic swelling
  5. Kapha Medavritavata - Kapha and meda obstruction of Vata

The Valuka (Sand) is heated and tied in the Potali (cloth bundle). It is then applied directly or after dipping into Kanji water. 

The treatment is best done over 3,5 or 7 days.
