There are multiple benefits to consuming Curry Leaves. They have anti-inflammatory properties, improve digestive function, protect the liver, are high in antioxidants, and are anti-diabetic. They work to level blood sugar in the body and assist in reducing increased lipids, acting as a weight regulator.
Curry leaves are particularly useful in treating irritable bowel syndrome. A great remedy for IBS includes drinking medicated buttermilk.
To make your own, take 3-4 curry leaves, grind them in the mortar and pestle and add a teaspoon of water to make a paste. Add the paste to light buttermilk, or 1 part yogurt and 6 parts water.
Curry leaves can also be ground and added to coconut or sesame oil to help promote hair growth, improve dandruff, and reduce grey hair. It can also be used in skin care preparations to treat insect bites, cuts, and burns.
Also great for cooking and brewing tea!
