For the students of Ayurveda and Ayurveda Lovers, below are some more classical text studies about Asrigdhara.

The terms used as synonyms for Asrigdhara by different authors are – Asraja, Aprajaa, Raktayoni, Lohitakshara, Rakta Pradara.

According to Charaka – the nidaana for asrigdhara may be due to amla, lavana, katu rasa, snigdha, guru, vidaahi annapaana, pishta anna, krushara, paayasa, dhadhi, mastu, sura, graamya–audaka.

All the above nidaana are mainly kaphakara and / or pittakara kaaranaas. Increased kapha can cause for increased proliferation of endometrial lining, apart from vitiating doshas by causing agni maandyata and sroto avarodha. Increased pitta mainly vitiates rakta, which in turn can vitiate artava.
